Nicole has enjoyed an almost 20-year career in American higher education as a professor, administrator, commentator, and consultant. A former community college student herself, she is currently Professor of English at the College of DuPage in suburban Chicago and a specialist in the community college sector. With repeated credits in The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inside Higher Ed and Pedagogy Unbound, and as a former Community Colleges columnist for The Chronicle’s Vitae, she is widely published on such topics as best practices in developmental education, improving online and blended instruction and healing relationships between administrators and faculty.
In recent years, she has primarily focused on the guided pathways movement, including leadership coaching, faculty engagement, and the “4th pillar” of pathways teaching and learning. She has served as the Lead Faculty Facilitator for the Pathways Project at the College of DuPage; been a guided pathways speaker and workshop facilitator for NISOD, the Michigan Center for Student Success, and the Oregon Community College Association; and helped edit a forthcoming series of guided pathways change management case studies with Davis Jenkins, Hana Lahr, and other researchers at CCRC. She is available as a speaker, coach, and consultant both independently and under the auspices of the Pathways Collaborative, currently coordinated by Achieving the Dream.
